We were staying at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thekeswickhotel.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keswick Country House Hotel<\/a>\u00a0where as always the service, food, wine and general hospitality were first class. A good place to stay and a place where walks to suit all aspirations can be enjoyed from the door.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The walk was to be our final outing of the trip and following a hearty breakfast we booted up and set off in glorious conditions down to Keswick where we then joined the Cumbria Way to make our way through the outskirts of Portinscale and on to reach the foot of Cat Bells, the day&#8217;s main objective. As we made the climb the wind picked up and the temperature dropped, but the sun was still shining and so on we went, over Skelgill Bank and on to the summit, passing, and being passed, along the way by other walkers who were out and about making full use of the nice conditions. The views, as always here on a fine day, were really good and we paused to take some photographs and to enjoy the scenery. Suitably rested and with the photos taken we continued on, going across Mart Bield, to reach the path crossroads at Hause Gate, where we descended south-eastwards to then join the good and easy track going north above Derwentwater and back to where the climb to Cat Bells began.
